Frequently asked questions – FAQ
Where is your meeting point for lessons?
- Top of Les Prodains Telepherique in Avoriaz, by the electronic information board, on the right at the top of the escalator
- Top of the Ardent Telecabine in Les Lindarets
- Top of the Super Morzine Telecabine
- Top of the Pleney telecabin
Will the lessons be in English?
Yes, we know this is important to you so all our instructors speak fluent English. For all but one of us English is our first language. Luc is Dutch but his English is perfect. For those of you who wish to book a Dutch or French speaking instructor, this is possible with Luc.
Not all ski schools provide a good experience - will F2S be different?
Yes! We pride ourselves on offering an exceptional experience to all of our customers. We are very grateful to have so many of our customers return to us year on year; we always look forward to seeing them again and to meeting new customers.
Are F2S lessons more expensive than some other ski schools?
Our prices are competitive with other British ski schools. All our lesson prices reflect the quality service you will receive. To qualify as a BASI Level 4 ISTD level instructor, it currently takes an average of 6 to 7 years of hard training, assessment and commitment. We believe F2S provides great value.
Will my child enjoy ski school?
The answer is YES! Our private lessons focus on having fun, improving technical skiing and learning on the move, in a safe, encouraging environment. Private groups can work for one to one to up to 8 young people of a similar ski level. This ensures individual attention, maximum care, a higher level of controllable safety, loads of fun, and energized group dynamics. 100% of our young clients say they enjoy our lessons!
Will there be a break during the lessons?
With younger children we often have a short break during 3 + hour sessions to refuel. This is particularly important for children so it is always a very good idea to pop a little snack into your child’s pocket and send a bottle of water/juice with them. If the lesson is over 2hrs, and it is a cold day, it is a good idea to give them some money to be able to purchase a hot drink if need be. Always take your child to the toilet before the lesson, since once the instructor has left the meeting point it is sometimes quite hard to find a toilet nearby.
What equipment will I need and do you provide it?
Skis, poles and ski boots and a ski pass are all required. We recommend helmets for all and, as it is mandatory for children, please make sure they are wearing a helmet. I’m afraid we don’t provide these extras so you will need to sort these out first.
Is a lift pass included in the ski lessons?
No, the lift passes need to be purchased prior to the lessons separately. All first week beginner Avoriaz based lessons will only require local ‘Avoriaz ‘ lift passes (it is less expensive than the PDS ski pass but covers less ski runs). For confident blue run and above skiers we would normally recommend purchasing the ‘Portes du Soleil’ pass. This will enable you to ski into Switzerland and explore the area fully.
