Ski Resorts of Morzine and Avoriaz

As independent ski teachers we can teach the whole of the Portes du Soleil, but tend to base ourselves in and around Avoriaz.

Ski Resort of Avoriaz

In the heart of the Portes du Soleil, Avoriaz has arguably the best skiing out of the 12 resorts that make up this extensive ski area.

Avoriaz is the highest resort with the best snow record, allowing skiing from early December to late April.

The terrain for skiing is extremely varied and offers world class terrain to teach all standards from beginner to advanced off piste skier.

Avoriaz Village is a unique cliff top resort as it is entirely pedestrian with restaurants, mountain cafes, and everything you need in a day’s skiing.

To gain a realistic view of the village and a small taste of the surrounding slopes visit the live HD webcam

The pretty alpine village of Morzine is set in the Vallee D’Aulps, just south of Lake Geneva. 99% of our clients will stay in Morzine and ski in Avoriaz.

Beginner Skiers

For beginners the learning plateau and extensive range of blue practice runs around Super Morzine encourage confidence and development of technique.

Intermediate Skiers

Intermediate skiers looking to hone their technique will enjoy exploring on the Swiss side of the mountains into Champery, all covered on the Portes du Soleil ski pass.

Advanced and Expert Skiers

Advanced/expert level skiers will find there are more than enough blacks, such as the famous Swiss Wall / Mur Suisse and the challenging Combe de Machon, – just two examples guaranteed to get the adrenaline flowing! – whilst the off piste terrain in the Portes du Soleil offers plenty of steep gullies https://en.portesdusoleil.com/experiences-to-live/the-swiss-wall-legendary-swiss-challenge-in-crosets/, hidden back country valleys and bowls, many of which are very easily accessed if you know where to find them! Non-glaciated terrain means the mountain is there to be skied with no crevasses to worry about.

Something Different

For teenagers and adults who want something different, fun and exiting, Avoriaz is home to the famous ‘Stash’, Europe’s first ecological snow-park. If you take the kids (or adults) there, it just might be the place they want to go time after time!

Ski Resort of Morzine

When the conditions are cold and the snow cover is good the ski area in Morzine that links with Les Gets, provides some lovely skiing for all levels of ability. For intermediate skiers and beyond purchasing a full area ski pass will allow you to take advantage of the Portes du Soleil. Avoriaz can easily be reached from Morzine via the Super Morzine telecabin.
